Avionté Hope: So Far in 2014

AHF is going to do great things this year; we can feel it!

This year, AHF (the Avionté Hope Foundation) has already donated over $1,200 to benefit two local charities, Tubman – which provides family crisis and support services out of the Minneapolis area – and Families Helping Each Other.

In February, Avionté Hope launched the “On Your Feet” campaign, a message that will be behind all of this year’s Avionté Hope donations; the Foundation’s main goal this year is to choose local non-profits that have a main focus on helping people help themselves.

To launch “On Your Feet”, Avionté hosted a shoe drive at Eagan office. For two weeks, employees brought in new to gently-used shoes to donate to Families Helping Each Other. We collected over 60 pairs of shoes and the Foundation also gave $1,000 to the organization to support selected families.

While the shoe drive was taking place, Avionté Hope also responded to a request it received from an employee’s daughter to donate cookies through her Girl Scout’s troop to the Tubman organization, a non-profit that provides family and support services. Avionté donated $200 (equating to 50 boxes of cookies!) to Tubman in February. She was so excited!

This month, the committee has been busy planning and organizing a bunch of fun volunteer activities for Avionté Staffing Software employees to use their Hope days:

• In April, a group of Avionté employees will be getting together (once the snow from our too-long Minnesota Winter melts away!) to pick up trash in celebration of Earth day.
• In May, collections will begin in the office to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and for employee participation in two races that support the organization.
• In June, Avionté will be sending groups of 12-15 employee volunteers each day to help with a weeklong group build in St. Paul through Habitat for Humanity – Twin Cities. Last year, we spent a week helping build a house through the organization, and despite the heat, it was one a highlight for many Avionté employees!
• In July, we’re signed up in two local 5ks, the Minnesota Warrior Dash and Minnesota Bacon Chase. Both races benefit the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
