For week 40, the major metrics were mixed. Assignments and New Talent showed substantially positive increases (2.0% and 2.3% respectively) but Hours were surprisingly down for the week. In fact, only once did we show a negative Hours week for a non-holiday week since the recovery started mid-April. The negative hours directly led to a reduction in Gross – which also was unique since the recovery for “on”/non-holiday weeks since the recovery.

The strong 2.3% increase in new talent is encouraging, which was the largest growth since mid-August.
Another positive note – staffing companies added 1.1% more users in week 40, the biggest jump since July. In general, that’s the 9th straight increase in Users, supporting the notion that agencies are hiring again to meet their strong demand.
