The Real Magic is in the Implementation

Christopher Ryan, Chief Strategy & Marketing Officer

When anyone asks, “Who has the best software for staffing today?”, I invariably say Avionté. Sure, I’m biased, but I truly believe in our products, our people, and our innovation path.

But “best” is a loaded term. What does it mean to be “the best”? Best at what? Best for whom? If we were selling toaster ovens or digital cameras, we could hold a bake-off or compare picture resolutions. But comparing software vendors is a lot more complicated.

Staffing software implementation

When it comes to choosing technology for your staffing agency, the real test of excellence is the consistent delivery of business outcomes. Whatever you aim to accomplish—revenue goals, recruiter productivity, client satisfaction, talent retention—your technology should help you get there. And as your organization learns to optimize the use of new technology, you should expect to see continuous, measurable improvement over time.

So, the real question isn’t “who has the best software?” Instead, staffing executives should be asking, “Which software vendor will be the best technology partner for my agency to help us reach our goals?”

And this brings us to an important truth. Having great software is only part of the success equation. The technology needs to be fitted to your business with the same care that a tailor would use to construct a fine suit. You want your technology configured to optimize the way you serve your clients. Your team may need to adjust or redesign key workflows to take advantage of new features. You want to clean the data from your old system and map it properly into the new system. Your people need to be trained to hit the ground running on day one.

If the fit is right, your team will use the system to its fullest potential, and your business will scale.  If the fit is poor, the technology will sit on a shelf. I’ve worked in Staffing and Human Capital for decades. I’ve seen amazing changes in technology. The one thing that has never changed is the importance of software implementation. It’s the single best predictor of satisfied customers and great business outcomes.

And this, in my opinion, is where Avionté stands alone from dozens of other ATS and back office vendors that serve the staffing industry. We implement what we sell, and we do it extremely well.

From the time of our founding almost two decades ago, we have worked hand and glove with customers to help them integrate Avionté technology into their business. We have tens of thousands of hours of project experience implementing full front- and back-office workflows that mirror our all-in-one staffing solution. We have a deep understanding of how the end-to-end workflows of the staffing operation fit together, from sales and customer requisitions to talent onboarding, time keeping, payroll, and billing.

And this experience pays off in important ways for a new customer. We start with a clean, no-BS implementation plan that makes the best use of your precious time while delivering a better ROI on your technology investment.

  • Experienced Project Managers (PMs): Each PM has worked with literally dozens of staffing agencies on their implementation plans and possesses a unique combination of business, software, staffing, and people skills that can only be developed through hands-on experience.
  • Advanced Automation and Tooling: We employ state-of-the-art software tools for project planning, data mapping and conversion, and acceptance testing, to streamline the customer experience and eliminate potential points of failure.
  • PMO Oversight / Project Transparency: We analyze and continuously refine every aspect of our tools and processes based on prior experience. Our customers have accurate estimates of resource requirements, roles and responsibilities, critical work steps, and progress towards milestones.
  • Knowledge of Best Practice Workflows and Configurations: We work closely with customers to understand their critical workflows and identify opportunities to streamline operations. We also have gold standard configurations that customers may adopt to optimize key platform features.
  • One Avionté Team: Our implementation PMs work side-by-side with our sales, service, product design, and software teams. They are up to speed on the latest software enhancements and new features, and they can call upon expertise across the entire Avionté organization to solve just about any customer problem.

In short, Avionté has simplified the process of software adoption and turned it into a predictable science. By compressing project timelines and minimizing operational disruption, we can help staffing agencies adopt advanced staffing technology with minimal risk.

Our approach to implementation also has significant benefits for our existing customers when they choose to open a new branch or acquire a competing staffing agency. It’s not uncommon for the Avionté Implementation team to handle 30 or more branch acquisitions in a year. Technology adoption consolidation through M&A requires a unique combination of speed and sensitivity that can only be delivered by an experienced team.

When you compare our approach to other software vendors in the staffing industry, we are unique.

  • Our smaller competitors lack the experience, bench strength, and automation needed to excel at implementation. They will waste your time while learning on your dime.
  • Stand-alone ATS vendors have limited insight regarding how to integrate with back-office workflows such as timekeeping, payroll, and billing operations.
  • Dedicated back-office vendors, including most large payroll and billing applications, don’t understand high-volume staffing. It’s not in their wheelhouse.

What about third-party integrators? Well, they are quite expensive, and quality may be hit or miss depending on who is assigned to the project. To my mind, however, the bigger question is who owns ultimate accountability for success? It’s not uncommon for software vendors and third-party integrators to point fingers and throw each other under the bus. On top of that, many consulting firms are financially motivated to drag out projects, overcomplicate the process, and rack up hours to justify their high rates.

With Avionté’s in-house implementation, this simply doesn’t happen. We’re committed to bringing our clients to launch quickly and satisfactorily, because if things go wrong, the consequences are devastating; it frustrates clients, strains our support team, and damages our overall reputation. It reflects badly on the entire partnership, which is why we’re fully invested in getting it right the first time.

So, when somebody asks, “Who has the best technology platform for staffing…?”, that’s why I recommend Avionté. We have great technology, but more importantly, we offer a better implementation experience. We can get customers up and running faster than our competitors and do it with substantially less pain and disruption. Our process is fast, structured, and ensures that our software is closely tailored to meet the needs of your business. And that’s a great foundation for a long-term partnership.
